The Roundhouse - Press Release
Welcome to The Roundhouse, your very own spa retreat in the Wye Valley
We are delighted to introduce a new place to stay in The Nant collection – The Roundhouse – an architectural gem and romantic spa retreat in the Herefordshire countryside.
The Roundhouse is an architectural wonder; built into the hillside, with the living spaces tucked beneath a rooftop swimming pond, waterfall and spa.
Formerly a garage and music studio when it was part of the family home, the Roundhouse has been cleverly transformed to harmonise with the natural surroundings, from its stone and wood exterior to the tiered Japanese garden that blends seamlessly with the verdant hillside.
Designed for two people to stay, The Roundhouse is a unique luxury hideaway in the beautiful Wye Valley – a place to soak in the outdoor bath after a swim in the naturally filtered pool, recline in the private sauna and gaze out from the terrace to the River Wye flowing majestically beyond.
A calming space
The main living space is on the lower level, beneath the rooftop pond and waterfall. There you'll find a large open-plan living and dining space, with a king-size four-poster bed in the corner, opposite a grand piano.
With the huge skylight and French doors, the space feels bright and airy, replete with natural textures and considered artwork – all very gentle on the eye.
Thoughtful details pepper the calming space, from the curated books on the coffee table to the fluffy robes and organic toiletries in the bathroom, which has a luxury monsoon shower. There are yoga mats provided in the cupboard, and firewood ready-stacked in the woodburner for a cosy night in.
Invigorate the senses
On the upper level, overlooking the swimming pond and waterfall is the roundhouse itself, perfectly circular with floor-to-ceiling curved windows, loungers next to the wood burner, and steps winding down to the monsoon shower room and sauna. From inside the sauna, little windows look out onto the surface of the pond – another reminder of what an architectural gem this place is.
The pond and roundhouse are enclosed within a Japanese garden, with a Zen meditation area, perfectly placed glacial rocks and Japanese black pines. Harnessing The Roundhouse's hillside location, the garden has a unique tiered design, with sweeping views of the Wye Valley.
And let's not forget the roll-top copper bath – luxuriously deep – just waiting for guests to melt into after a swim.
Venture out...
The Roundhouse's superb location in the Wye Valley makes it a gem for nature lovers. Guests can take a picnic to the riverside beach by Sellack bridge, or hire canoes for an adventure on the river.
The nearby market town of Ross-on-Wye is well worth a visit for its abundance of independent shops, cafes and pubs, as is the city of Hereford, famed for being the home of the Mappa Mundi, the medieval map of the world.
For dining out, a short stroll away is The Loughpool, a 16th-century inn serving excellent local food, ciders and perries.
...or stay in
Of course, sometimes all you need is your fluffy robe and slippers, hot water flowing in the outdoor bath, and a fire crackling in the wood burner. It’s all there, waiting for guests to experience the perfect spa retreat. Let The Roundhouse be your sanctuary.
The Roundhouse sleeps 2; prices start from £395 for a 2-night stay.
